Oikos Game: Teach Your Kids Practical Life Skills

Do you want to teach your kids practical life skills without having to nag? Do you want you and your children to have fun as a family while they develop a character that you can be proud of?According to Dr. Michael Rayel, inventor of the Oikos Game Series, the best way to teach kids practical life skills is through a game. "The essence of play is to have fun. So if you can incorporate learning personal and social skills with play, then your kids will have fun while they develop valuable life skills," he said.Oikos Game: A Personal Development and Emotional Skills Game is a board game that can help children learn skills such as dealing with bullies, managing anger, showing empathy, being assertive, solving problems, and facing strangers to name just a few. Dr.

Rayel further said, "Aside from being fun, Oikos Game provides a venue for families to talk about sensitive issues. Thus, it also promotes family interaction in a positive way."Because of the Oikos Game's virtues, it was recently featured in an hour-long parenting TV show (Detroit Fox News Network). The response from the public has likewise been very encouraging so Dr. Rayel has promised to develop more Oikos Games. In a few weeks, Oikos Game Level 2 will be released.

This level requires more thinking and strategy and is designed for 7 to 9 years old. Around January 2005, Oikos Game Level 3, intended for 10 years old and adult, is designed to teach more advanced life skills such as setting goals, making decisions, solving problems, and preventing use of street drugs. "Although entertaining, too much internet and video games are not healthy for kids over the long haul. They need to play a board game like Oikos Game to develop life's skills," he added.Dr. Rayel and his wife Gayzelle created Oikos Global, a private company that creates, develops, and sells fun and educational games.

In a few weeks, Oikos Global will release new games: Fikloo, IzSip Challenge, and Wordigy. Visit www.oikosglobal.com for more information.???Contact Information: Gayzelle MenesesOikos Global Phone (H) 709-466-7591 fax (H) 709-466-2214http://www.oikosglobal.come-mail protected from spam bots..

Cornucopia Centerpiece for Thanksgiving Day

As we enter into the month of November my thoughts turn towards Thanksgiving and everything that this wonderful holiday has to offer. It is a time for spending time with family and friends and for counting the many blessings the past year has brought to us. Like most people I like to decorate for the holidays, and Thanksgiving is no exception.Indian corn, pumpkins, gourds, wheat, fruits, nuts, and anything that symbolizes a bountiful harvest are at the top of the list for things I like to include in my decorating scheme. The best way to incorporate all of these items it to design a cornucopia centerpiece for Thanksgiving Day.What is a cornucopia?Cornucopia is a Latin term derived from two words, cornu meaning horn and copia meaning plenty. The horn of plenty, as it is also known, is shaped like a horn or cone. It is usually shown overflowing with nuts and fruit.

(Freeman, Morton, S. The Story behind the Words. Philadelphia: Isis Press, 1985)This everlasting symbol of abundance...

The Importance Of Sets In Your Muscle Building Program

In an earlier article we looked at how repetitions contribute to the muscle building process, but is the position regarding sets just as clear cut? Unfortunately, the answer to this is no as some experts feel one set to failure is sufficient, whereas others argue that multiple sets are needed to ensure maximum muscle gains.Research to date suggests that, when using six to eight repetitions to failure at 75-80% 1RM, there is little significant difference between training with single and multiple sets in terms of increasing either strength or muscle size. Any small differences that have been recorded indicate that a single set completed to failure encourages strength gains but subsequent sets have a slightly greater impact on muscle size. What is clear is that the law of diminishing returns applies, so you have to question if the marginal improvements in size justify the extra time and effort expended.Like everything else in life, bodybuilding does not remain static and several cutting...
